Make an informed choice
Choosing your next tool
Choose by the research work you need
Daloopa alternatives should be evaluated around the finished research artifact. A team updating its own Excel model needs different tools from a team searching transcripts or screening acquisition targets. The options below all support financial research, but their data breadth, document workflows and spreadsheet connections differ. Start with a representative company and an existing model so that a comparison reveals actual gaps in your process.
Three financial research alternatives
AlphaSense combines financial data with generative research, monitoring and access to internal knowledge. Its official platform description also includes native Excel and PowerPoint assistants. It is worth considering when analysts need to move between numbers, qualitative explanations and a research deliverable. Compare the content available under your agreement and the handling of your firm’s documents; a broader research platform may require a different rollout than a focused model-data service.
S&P Capital IQ Pro brings company fundamentals, estimates, screening and transaction information into a financial intelligence platform. Office Tools connect the data to spreadsheet models, while ChatIQ and Document Intelligence support natural-language and document research. It is relevant when a valuation workflow also needs private-company or deal context. Ask which datasets and Office capabilities your license covers, and compare the definitions of standardized metrics with the company-specific disclosures your model uses.
FactSet Workstation supports screening, company research, AI-enabled document search and movement into Excel through templates and linked data. Its official workflow article also describes source-linked exports. Consider it when company and transaction research need to share a broader workstation. Evaluate the particular datasets and exports required for your universe rather than assuming every research capability is included in one subscription.
| Option | Useful workflow | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| AlphaSense | Combine qualitative research and financial data | Content access and document connections |
| S&P Capital IQ Pro | Screen companies and build valuation models | Dataset licensing and Office Tools |
| FactSet Workstation | Research companies and move data into Excel | Data coverage and linked exports |
Check the model rather than the headline
Use the same reported quarter and peer group across the shortlist. Examine a source link, a restated figure, an industry-specific KPI and a refresh of an existing workbook. Record where a reviewer must intervene. This is more informative than comparing the number of advertised datasets or accepting a vendor accuracy claim as a measure of your own model’s quality.
Confirm access before migration
Request written clarification of user seats, data delivery rights, spreadsheet support and any AI usage limits. Also establish whether existing model formulas can be preserved or need remapping. Keep a small pilot with known outputs before making a research team dependent on a new data connection.
