Curiosio

New

Curiosio treats a road trip as an optimization problem: give it your time, budget and interests and it computes routes that maximize the experience in between, rather than selling you flights and hotel rooms. Deliberately plain interface, free to use.

Curiosio is the most opinionated tool on this page, and it says so out loud. Its pitch: the big travel sites exist to sell you flights and hotel rooms, but the trip is the experiences in between, and planning for those is much harder than finding a cheap fare. So it does the harder thing. You give it your constraints, time available, budget, what you're curious about, and it computes road trip routes that maximize what you'll actually see and do within those limits.

The interface is defiantly plain. No hero videos, no discount banners, no decorative anything, in the makers' words the content is the interface. Click any part of a proposed route to dig into the reasoning. It's aimed, explicitly, at educated frequent travellers who already know what they want and are irritated by being upsold. That's a narrow audience and the design makes no apology for it.

Why it's worth your time

Because the routing genuinely is an optimization engine, not a chatbot dressed as one. Ask for two weeks in Scotland on a set budget and it returns coherent loops rather than a wish list you have to sequence yourself. For anyone who has spent an evening dragging map pins around trying to make the driving days work, that's the whole ballgame. It costs nothing to use.

Be realistic

There's no app, no booking, no live prices, and the presentation asks more of you than the polished planners do. If you want a friendly assistant to hold your hand, you will not enjoy it. Try Roadtrippers for discovery-led driving or Wanderlog for group logistics.

Bottom line

A quietly brilliant route solver for self-directed road trippers who value clarity over polish. It solves a real problem the flashier tools mostly avoid.
