Endurance sport has always had a coaching class the gym never did: training plans, periodized seasons, threshold tests. Athletica automates that tradition properly. Pick your event, anything from a 5K to an ultra, sprint tri to full distance, plus cycling, duathlon, Hyrox, rowing and cross-country skiing, and it writes a plan that then bends around your actual life. Miss a Tuesday session and the week reshuffles instead of shaming you. Fatigue building up in your data? The plan eases before you break.

Your devices feed it. Garmin, Strava, Coros, Wahoo and Concept2 all sync in, so the app sees every workout as it happened rather than as planned. The AI Coach chat is trained on a sport-science knowledge base assembled by physiologists, and it answers questions about your own numbers: why was that ride so hard, should I move my long run. It suggests changes and explains itself, but you keep the final say, a design decision endurance nerds will appreciate. The "as seen in" bar (Triathlete, Cycling Weekly, Outside, Strava) reflects genuine coverage in the endurance press.

Distinctive touches

The Workout Wizard adjusts a session in real time when the day goes sideways. A partnership program called Velocity lets a human coach supervise the AI's work, a hybrid nothing else on this list offers. And Hyrox support arrived while half the fitness industry was still googling what Hyrox is.

Keep in mind

Strength training is not the mission; lifters belong with Fitbod or JuggernautAI. Pricing sits behind the trial rather than on the homepage. And you'll get the most from it if you already own a sports watch or trainer; without device data it's working half blind. The trial requires no credit card, which we wish were standard.

Bottom line

The serious pick for anyone with a start line on the calendar. It's the closest thing here to a real endurance coach who happens to cost like an app.
