Wonderplan

New

Wonderplan asks about your destination, dates, budget level and interests, then builds an itinerary you can reorder, edit and download as a PDF for offline use. Completely free, with accommodation suggestions and broad cost ranges per budget band.

Wonderplan keeps the promise small and keeps it. A short questionnaire, destination, dates, budget level, interests from food to hiking to festivals, even a food preference (halal or vegan are the two on offer), and out comes a day-by-day itinerary with accommodation suggestions attached. No booking engine, no upsell maze. Be clear about the budget part though: you pick a band (low, medium, high) and it shows generic ranges, hotel and food brackets rather than a total costed against your actual plan. It calls itself a personal travel agent in your pocket, which oversells it slightly; it's a very good first draft machine.

The editing is where it earns a place on this list. Reorder days, swap destinations, add and remove stops, and when you're happy, download the whole thing as a PDF. That last feature matters more than it looks: plans survive dead phone batteries, missing roaming and countries where your data plan sulks. Plenty of fancier tools keep your itinerary hostage inside their app.

The price

Free, with the FAQ's charming caveat, "at least for now." No premium tier existed when we visited. An account is needed for the full feature set, which grates slightly against the frictionless pitch but is hardly unusual.

Rough edges

Generation itself is quick, but retries can throw an error page, and the add-a-place search is unreliable enough that reviewers flag it. Suggestions skew toward well-known sights; genuine obscurities still need a human. There's no live pricing (see Stardrift for that) and no in-tool booking (that's Mindtrip's game).

Bottom line

The best pure-free itinerary builder for budget-conscious travelers who want a realistic plan and a PDF to carry, and who'd rather book things themselves anyway.
